CAMP SPRINGS, Md. -- One person was taken to the hospital after a police-involved shooting in Camp Springs, Md. This is the third police-involved shooting reported in the D.C. area in the last 24 hours.
The shooting happened around 2:40 p.m. in the 6200 block of Maxwell Drive as police were investigating a car theft ring. Officers observed a suspect getting into a stolen car. When officers tried to arrest the suspect, he fired a gun at officers through the car window. Officers returned fired and shot the suspect.
A total of 10 rounds were exchanged between officers and the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
Police say no officers were hurt during the shooting.
