MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Emergency responders took several trauma patients to the hospital Thursday night after a serious high speed crash in Montgomery County.

Officials said it happened at about 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Northampton Drive.

According to Pete Piringer, the Montgomery County Fire public information officer, the incident was declared an MCI or "Mass Casualty Incident."

His tweets said there were at least two or three trauma patients and dozens of rescue crews at the scene. He said there were at least seven cars involved in the crash.

As of about midnight, all lanes were blocked.
