DAMASCUS, Md. (WUSA9) -- A person was critically injured Monday afternoon after a three car accident involving a tractor trailer, Montgomery County police said.

The person was in their GMC Sonoma traveling northbound on Ridge Road near Gue Road when, for reasons under investigation, they crossed the center line and collided with a Ford F-450 heading southbound, police said.

The Sonoma was then hit by a tractor-trailer traveling north on Ridge Road, pinning the driver of the Sonoma inside their vehicle.

Paramedics were able to extract the victim before they were medevaced to a nearby hospital, where they are being treated for life-threatening injures.

Ridge Road was closed between Gue Road and Woodfield Road while police investigated the accident.

The driver of the Ford F-450 suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
