Md. volleyball coach accused of child sex crimes

Police are urging any other potential victims to come forward.

A man accused of committing illegal sex acts against a juvenile has been charged in the alleged incident.

Howard County Police said they began investigating Marc Stephen Moore Jr., of Upper Marlboro, Md., after a 16-year-old girl reported that she had been sexually abused by him at the Maryland Junior Sports Center in Jessup. Moore was a volleyball coach at the center.

According to a police report, the juvenile accused Moore of touching her inappropriately in a private room. She also told police that Moore had her take nude photos and then took possession of the

pictures.

The victim informed police that similar acts took place at a home in Anne Arundel County. Detectives in Howard notified police in Anne Arundel, who investigated those allegations.

As a result of that investigation, Anne Arundel County Police charged Moore with multiple counts of

sex abuse of a minor, solicitation of a minor, 4th degree sex offenses and distribution and

possession of child pornography.

Howard County’s investigation resulted in similar charges, including sex abuse of a minor and child

pornography. Howard County Police found Moore Tuesday morning at his home and took him into

custody.

Police said Moore is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

Howard County and Anne Arundel County Police are urging anyone who may have information,

or who may have been victimized by Moore, either at the Maryland Junior Sports Center or at

another location, to contact HCPD at 410-313-STOP or HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov or

AAPD at 410-222-4733. Detectives in both jurisdictions will continue to share information in the

ongoing investigation.
