Maryland man arrested in Beltsville fatal stabbing

Prince George's Police Department have arrested Canaan Peterson, 23, of Baltimore with first degree murder and other related charges.

BELTSVILLE, MD (WUSA9) — A Maryland man has been arrested for a fatal domestic-related stabbing.

Prince George’s Police Department have arrested Canaan Peterson, 23, of Baltimore with first degree murder and other related charges.

According to police, the stabbing happened on March 14 around 10:30 p.m. Officers responded to a welfare call along the 11200 block of Evans Trail in Beltsville.

When police arrived, they found 27-year-old Antonio Barnes, from Beltsville, suffering from a stab wound.

Police said it appears the stabbing happened during an argument between the suspect and victim. Barnes was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Peterson was in a relationship with the victim, said police. He is being held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
