Man arrested in Chillum homicide

Police say the suspect and victim were involved in a fight before the fatal shooting.

CHILLUM, Md. — A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Chillum on Saturday. 

Prince George's County police arrested Guy Young, of Chillum, and charged him in the death of 33-year-old Samuel Wright. Police say Young and Wright knew each other and were involved in a fight before the shooting.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to the area of Sargeant Road and Chillum Road for the report of a person shot. They arrived to find Wright unresponsive in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Young is charged with first and second degree murder and other related charges. He is in custody in D.C. awaiting extradition to Prince George's County.
