12 injured after being exposed to carbon monoxide

Three people are in serious condition, but have non-life-threatening injuries.

ODENTON, Md. -- At least 12 employees are injured after being exposed to carbon monoxide at a bank in Odenton, Maryland early Tuesday morning, Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue said.

Around 8 a.m., authorities received a call reporting patients suffering from symptoms from CO exposure at the Navy Federal Credit Union located at 1179 Annapolis Road.

When officials arrived they found 12 workers suffering from CO exposure symptoms. These employees had been working on renovations during off-hours, starting around 5 a.m. All of the victims were transported to the hospital with varying degrees of injury.

Three workers went to Shock Trauma for treatment at their hyperbaric medicine facility. Those workers are considered to be in serious condition, but non-life-threatening.

The nine others were sent to University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore with possibly severe, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials cleared the scene around 10 a.m. and it turned it over to the bank. Bank employees who arrived at 9 a.m. for work have now been let inside the building.
