ARLINGTON, Va- Changes are expected to be made to the Marine Corps Marathon this year due to Metro's SafeTrack program.
A press conference will be held Wednesday at 1p.m. at the Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre to announce the changes being made.
Officials are expected to discuss the new event timeline and transportation plan for the runners.
The Marine Corps Marathon is held from October 28 through October 30. The marathon starts at 7:55a.m. Sunday, October 30. It starts at 7:45 a.m. for wheelchair and hand cycle participants. Runners are expected to arrive two hours early.
Unlike last year, metro will not open early to accommodate the crowds. However, another plan is in place. Metro tells WUSA9, eight additional car trains will be added to the blue and yellow lines throughout the day.
There will be an increase in frequency of the trains between 7a.m. and 9 a.m. on the yellow line and between 7a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on the blue line.
The race starts between the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery.
