LIST: Roads closed, power out after severe storms slam into DMV

Almost immediately, several roads and an interstate closed due to downed trees and power lines. Power also went out to thousands.

WASHINGTON — After a severe storm slammed into the DMV area Monday, several roads and one interstate closed due to downed power lines and trees.

INTERSTATES

Interstate 270 briefly closed but reopened by about 4:35 p.m. Monday afternoon.

A severe storm knocked down trees and wires between Clarksburg (Exit 18) and Hyattstown/109 (Exit 22).

Originally, both directions were closed.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Damascus, Md. area - Road blocked at Bethesda Church Road at Purdum Road after a tree fell on a car. Everyone got out of the car safely, but the road is closed.

LOUDOUN COUNTY

Several trees were down across the following roads Tollhouse Road, Taylorstown Road, Stevens Road and Harmony Church Road.

"Use caution while commuting home this evening as additional storms are expected," the Loudoun Sheriff account tweeted.
