PHOENIX - A United Airlines flight traveling from Houston to Phoenix was forced to turn back Sunday due to the heat.
The regional jet had to turn around midway through the flight because of temperatures on the ground in Phoenix, according to a Sky Harbor spokesperson.
It took off from Houston around 2:30 p.m. and was set to land in Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. However, when it reached the Texas border, it turned around because it wasn't safe to land.
This was the only aircraft affected by the heat Sunday.
This regional jet was set to land during peak temperature, and was impacted because of the type of jet.
The passengers arrived in Phoenix Monday morning.
