WASHINGTON -- Cajun eatery and bar Po Boy Jim has opened its second location in the city. The popular Atlas District spot's new outpost is at 1934 Ninth St. NW in Shaw.

Building on its success in its original H Street location, Po Boy Jim brings its Cajun appetizers, sandwiches and mains to the U Street Corridor.

Traditional po'boys with andouille sausage and hand-battered or grilled shrimp are here. There are also house specialties like the District, made with sliced sirloin steak, bacon, provolone and shrimp with remoulade sauce, and a salmon, bacon, lettuce and tomato version. Crawfish etouffee and gumbo are among the entrees.

Drinks include draft beer and New Orleans-friendly cocktails like the Peach Mint Julep and the Bayou Storm.

The new Po Boy Jim has made a good impression thus far, with a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.

Marcus C., who reviewed the new spot on July 25, wrote, "The wings were up there as some of the best I have ever had. You can choose from three flavors and either get all the same, half and half, or two of each. "

Yelper Lior G. added, “Stopped in for bottomless brunch, and it was amazing. Fresh made-to-order food, I had a shrimp omelet, which was absolutely delicious. The mimosas were delicious and made on the spot.”

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Po Boy Jim is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–midnight on weekends.
