GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Looks like Gaithersburg takes the cake when it comes to being the most diverse city in America, a new ranking by WalletHub shows.

The online financial resource and services website for individuals and businesses, WalletHub compared a total of 313 cities across the country and looked at a variety of things. WalletHub looked at variety of diversity metrics, including social class, ethno-racial, household and economic diversity and more.

Gaithersburg came out as number one on the list for ethno racial diversity, number two for social class diversity, 84 for household diversity and 216 for economic diversity.

The city got a score of 70.90 across those four metrics, which led to its number one spot. Gaithersburg was also ranked number one in the Small City category for places with populations under 100,000.

“We’re thrilled that Gaithersburg has achieved this ranking again,” said Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman. “We’re not without our challenges as we strive to be as inclusive as possible across our cultural and economic differences, but our commitment to recognizing and embracing the contributions of all of our residents strengthens the fabric of this community, making Gaithersburg an awesome place to live.”

Silver Spring, Germantown, Frederick, Rockville and Waldorf all came in under the Small City category for most diverse cities.
