Family and friends gathered together for Ashanti Billie's funeral in Fort Washington Friday morning. The 19-year-old woman was found dead in Charlotte, North Carolina at the end of September.
Billie's loved ones mourned and remembered the young woman at the Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington.
The college student, was living in Hampton Roads and went missing on September 18. Police were contacted after Billie did not show up for work or her college classes. Her body was found by a landscaping worker in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 29.
Billie's cell phone was found in a dumpster on Tallyho Terrace in Norfolk, Va. the same day she went missing. He car was then found abandoned on September 23 in Ocean View.
WUSA9's Scott reported that it was an incredibly sad day at the church Friday morning. Family members and friends offered remembrances of Billie during the service.
Many questions still remain unanswered in the case. Police do not have a motive or suspect.
"I just want them to find whoever did this to her... give the family closure...as to what happened to her," a woman who attended the funeral shared.
"This is just senseless and should've never have happened... and on a military base...this should never happen. I don't understand it." another person added.
