Female pedestrian struck and killed in Southeast, DC

Police have not identified the victim at this time.

WASHINGTON -- A female pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night while walking in Southeast, DC police said. 

Police said she was walking in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue around 10:28 p.m. when she was hit by a Ford Explorer. The victim was not in the crosswalk when she was hit, according to a police report. 

The driver of the Ford Explorer stayed on the scene and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services took the victim to a local hospital where she later died.

The victim's identity has not been released at this time.
