WASHINGTON -- The USO of Metropolitan Washington and WUSA9 are teaming up to raise money to thank our military families this holiday season.

DONATE HERE: Turkeys for Troops

There are thousands of active-duty military personnel in the D.C. Metropolitan area. We'd like to thank them by providing Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets. It's part of a program called Turkeys for Troops.

For many of our military members, this will be the first holiday meal they've had with their families in a long time. Be a part of creating special holiday memories for them and their families and show your support by thanking them with a holiday meal.

How to donate a meal: click here.

The holiday baskets will contain canned goods, stuffing and pie makings, corn bread mix and a gift card for a fresh turkey or ham. USO-Metro is working directly with military leaders to identify families in the region that need our help the most.

The suggested donation is $50.00 to cover the cost of one food basket, which will feed a family of six.

On behalf of the USO-Metro and our soldiers, sailors and airmen, thank you in advance for participating in Turkeys for Troops.

This is the Buff White House Chef. He uses cooking to save soldiers' lives.
