Detectives searching for man robbing SunTrust Banks inside of Safeways

Police said the man hit another bank on Thursday.

Police are searching for this man after several bank robberies in Montgomery County.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are searching for the man they say has been robbing SunTrust Banks specifically inside of Safeway grocery stores.

So far, there have been four incidents, including one on Thursday. Police said at 3:39 p.m. Thursday, they got a call that the bank inside of the Safeway at 15411 New Hampshire Avenue in Cloverly had been robbed.

Police said their investigation showed the suspect approached the teller and displayed a note demanding cash, before getting the money and running.

Police believe that same man robbed the SunTrust bank inside the store at 14939 Shady Grove Road in Rockville three previous times. Most recently, on March 3 just before 5 p.m. with the same M.O., then one month before, on Feb. 3, and on Jan. 27.

Anyone with information about the suspect or these bank robberies is asked to contact the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
