Worker dead after being pinned between bed and body of dump truck at NW construction site

Police were called to 3900 Wisconsin Ave. for the report of an accident with entrapment.

WASHINGTON — A worker is in dead after an incident at a job site on Wisconsin Ave.

Officials said they were called to 3900 Wisconsin Ave., Northwest for the report of an accident with entrapment. When they got there they didn't find an accident, but said units were directed on to the construction site where they found a worker in critical condition.

Police said the worker was pinned between the bed and body of a dump truck. The worker has since died. D.C. Police said there's no criminal investigation at this time. 

No further information was available.

In July, a boy was killed while working at a construction site. He died after getting stuck in a ditch in McLean, Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. 

Police said another worker, an adult male, was hospitalized after the incident with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said it happened in the 1800 block of Solitaire Lane. They couldn't say how the two became stuck in the ditch and said Major Crimes as well as OSHA were investigating.

Additionally, in June, one person was killed and two others were injured after an accident at the Shady Grove Transfer Station. 

The incident happened in the 16100 block of Frederick Road.

Police said 35-year-old Gladis Loren Melendrez-Fuentes of Rockville died in the incident. She was a subcontractor at the trash transfer station, who sorted through yard waste and removed any garbage mixed in. 

While she was separating trash from yard waste Thursday afternoon, a load of yard waste was dumped on top of her.

Police said two other people were hurt in the incident.
