WASHINGTON -- A woman was injured after police say a stray bullet came through her window and grazed her in the head while she was in bed in Northeast, D.C. on Thursday night.

The shooting happened in the area of 44th and Benning Road around 11:30 p.m. 

Police say the woman was conscious when she was transported to a local and is expected to be OK. 

The events surrounding the shooting are unknown at this time.

No further information has been released.
