A Prince George's County fire official says a Metro train was evacuated after a fire was reported under a railcar.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady said by telephone that firefighters were called to the Landover Metro station on Friday morning for a report of a fire under a car. He says the fire was extinguished and passenger got off the train safely before firefighters arrived.

Brady says crews are standing by while Metro prepares to move the train from the station to a railyard.

Metro warns that orange line riders should expect delays since trains are using one track between New Carrollton and Cheverly.
