String of sexual assaults reported near Georgetown

D.C. police want you to be on the lookout for a man wanted in a string of sexual assaults, mostly near the Georgetown neighborhood.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — D.C. police are warning about a string of sexual assaults that have occurred mostly around the Georgetown neighborhood.

WUSA9 learned at least one of those victims is a Georgetown University student.

Since early February, police believe the same suspect has been groping several women throughout the city. Police said the first assault occurred on February 4th.

The next four don’t happen again until April, some two months later.

“One of my friend’s parents came to town last week and we were talking about it and we all just kind of reaffirmed like, do not walk by yourselves,” said a GU Senior who identified herself as “Sophia.”

The student told WUSA9 she’s been paying attention to the campus alerts, including one sent by Georgetown University on Sunday. The email identifies the victim as a “student.”

Police reports say various women were either groped from the front or behind.

“…I thought it was just like a one and done thing,” a GU Freshman told WUSA 9.

Police said most of the five groping incidents reported took place between 11 p.m. and one in the morning.

“It’s the consequence of living in the city. I knew when I picked a city like that, that you always have to be aware of your surroundings. So…I don’t think it’s like the greatest thing in the world but I think it’s just kind of, a consequence of living here,” said Sophia.

Below is the police description of each incident, along with the suspect descriptions.

Police are offering a $1,000 award for information leading to an arrest.
