WASHINGTON — D.C. Police arrested a man accused of stealing more than 25 bikes from different locations across Washington D.C.
Police said 53-year-old John Morgan took the bikes between January and April of this year.
In one case noted by police, Morgan entered the storage area of an apartment building along with 1400 block of Church Street in Northwest. He “cut the locks and took bicycles then fled the scene,” according to police.
D.C. resident Kuba Wuls said his bike was stolen in March from one of the targeted locations listed by police.
"This is the only valuable thing I have ever bought.This bike helped me finish five Ironman triathlons and it’s been to three different continents," Wuls posted on Facebook. "If you see it around, please contact me. There is a cash reward for its recovery."
Wuls is offering $500 to get his bike returned.
Pictures of an alleged bike thief were posted at several garages throughout D.C. It’s not clear if the man pictured is Morgan.
Police released a public bulletin in March attempting to locate Morgan, with a $1,000 reward attached.
Morgan is charged with 19 counts of theft II, five counts of theft I, nine counts of destruction of property and one count of burglary II.
