Local grocery store on a global mission

After hearing a familial calling, a DC woman started her own grocery store to battle climate change.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA9) — WASHINGTON -- In DuPont Circle there is a grocery store serving up local foods and a mission: to fight climate change.

In this week’s Workin’ It, we introduce you to Glen’s Garden Market and its owner and environmental activist, Danielle Vogel.

Vogel is a fourth-generation grocer. However, she didn’t always want to run a grocery store. She started out in Washington, D.C. working for a congressman.

Her goal back then was to work on meaningful climate change legislation. However, as the wheels of government moved slowly, she turned frustration into action.

She started Glen’s Garden Market five years ago to fight climate change one bite at a time.
