WASHINGTON -- HBO crews are in Washington D.C. this weekend, shooting a miniseries called The Plot Against America.

They'll be filming downtown, which will cause several streets to be shut down throughout the weekend.

Friday night, parts of 17th and 18 streets in Northwest were temporarily closed.

Saturday afternoon, parts of Indiana Avenue and C street will be closed until the evening.

And Saturday night, parts of Constitution and Pennsylvania Avenues between 3rd and 7th streets will be closed down until early Sunday morning.

The concept of the show imagines an alternate American history as told through the eyes of a working-class Jewish family in New Jersey.

"The story follows the family as they watch the political rise of Charles Lindbergh, an aviator-hero and xenophobic populist, who becomes president and turns the nation towards fascism," HBO wrote on their site.

It will star Winona Ryder, Zoe Kazan, Morgan Spector, Anthony Boyle, Azhy Robertson, Caleb Malis, and John Turturro.

David Simon and Ed Burns, the team behind The Wire and Generation Kill are serving as the series' writers and executive producers, HBO said.
