Police investigate Southeast homicide

Police have identified the man killed as 28-year-old Cecil Morris.

WASHINGTON — D.C. Police are investigating a deadly Southeast shooting.

According to a press release from D.C. Police, the shooting happened in the 1800 block of Gainesville Street on Saturday, October 30.

When officers arrived just before 7:45 p.m., they found a man who had been shot. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services took the man to a nearby hospital for help but he died from his injuries two days later. 

Police have identified the man killed as 28-year-old Cecil Morris. Investigators say Morris had no fixed address at the time of his death. 

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.

The department currently officers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in D.C.
