How to watch the Caps victory parade

A victory parade will be held at 11 a.m. on Constitution Avenue starting at 17th street and ending at 7th street and the National Mall.

WASHINGTON -- The Capitals celebration continues Tuesday with a victory parade and rally along the National Mall.

The parade will start at 11 a.m. on Constitution Avenue and 17th Street NW and will end at 7th Street where it will turn into an ALLCAPS rally at 7th Street and the National Mall. A stage is expected to be set up between Madison and Jefferson on the Mall.

If you couldn't make it down, there are several ways you can watch the victory parade.

The parade is free to the public.

Officials are encouraging fans to take Metro or rideshare and to bring lots of water.

Monumental Sports, the group that owns that Capitals, estimates more than 100,000 people will take part in the celebration.

Weather forecast:
It's looking like it'll be a perfect day for a celebratory parade. Temps will be climbing from the 60s into the mid 70s under a mostly to partly sunny sky. Highs Tuesday will be a bit below average but very comfortable in the mid and upper 70s. We'll notice an increase in clouds late in the afternoon.

If you'll be traveling in the area, you'll want to avoid these roads.

Metro:
Metro will operate on rush-hour levels of service to accommodate the thousands of expected parade-goers throughout the day, with 2 to 4 minute waits expected between trains. The system will open at 5 a.m. The rush-hour service will continue all afternoon and into the evening commute.

The busiest stations are expected to be:

• Archives
• Arlington Cemetery
• Foggy Bottom
• Federal Triangle
• Metro Center
• Federal Center SW
• L'Enfant Plaza
• Smithsonian
• Union Station
• Gallery Place

Metro recommends selecting a station along the parade route that's on the same line as where you start your trip. Also, make sure you have enough fare on your SmarTrip card to cover the entire trip.

7th Street, NW Parking Restrictions:
• 7th Street will be Emergency No Parking from 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11 through 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 7th Street will be closed from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW during the same time.

Parade Emergency No Parking:
All other Emergency No Parking times will be in effect from 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11 through 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, including:
• Constitution Avenue, NW from 6th Street to 23rd Street, NW
• 9th Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to I-395
• 10th Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 12th Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 14th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW

The public should expect parking restrictions in the area and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in the area and in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed. These vehicles will be relocated to legal spaces. Motorists whose vehicles are towed should call (202) 541-6083.

Traffic Restrictions:
The following streets will be closed from 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12 through 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12:
• Inbound 14th Street Bridge Main Line - all traffic will be directed toward Eastbound I-395
• Inbound 14th Street Bridge HOV - all traffic will be directed toward Eastbound I-395
• Northbound 12th Street Tunnel - all traffic will be directed toward Eastbound I-395
• Eastbound Theodore Roosevelt Bridge - all traffic will be directed toward E Street Expressway/Potomac River Freeway
• Southbound 9th Street Tunnel
• Constitution Avenue, NW from 6th Street to 23rd Street, NW
• 9th Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to I-395
• 10th Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW

Bike Access:
• DDOT will extend bike corral hours until 3:00 p.m. to create additional parking for Capital Bikeshare bikes.

Public Space:
• A limited suspension of construction, utility, and road work will be enforced in the area adjacent to the parade route on Tuesday, June 12. The suspension of work will be in place for the entire day.
• All construction, utility, and road work zones must be cleared and properly secured at the close of business on Monday, June 11.

• Four F-16 Fighting Falcons from the D.C. Air National Guard will fly over the parade with a path up the Potomac River, culminating near Independence and 23rd Street NW
