5 people shot, 3 stabbed in less than 8 hours in DC

WASHINGTON -- It was a violent night in the District after five people were shot and three people were stabbed in less than eight hours, starting just before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Metropolitan police said.

At 6:22 p.m.. officers were called to the 3000 block of 14th Street Northwest for a shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gun shot wound. Officials said he is conscious and breathing.

Nearly 20 minutes later around at 6:41 p.m., police were called to the 3900 block of 8th Street Southeast. They found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both taken to the hospital. Police do not have any suspects or a motive at this time.

Around 8 p.m., officers responded to the 3700 block of Hayes Street Northeast for a stabbing of an adult male. The victim is conscious and breathing. Police said a suspect is in custody.

At 9:30 p.m., police were called to the 1600 block of North Capitol Street Northwest for a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said he is conscious and breathing. He has a gunshot wound buttock which exited near his hip. Police are looking for two suspects who were both wearing black hoodies. They were both seen going eastbound in the unit block of Quincy Place Northwest.

Four hours later on Wednesday morning, police were called to the area of 7th and G Street Northwest near Capitol One Arena. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a stab wound. Police said he was conscious when he was transported to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Nearly 10 minutes later at 1:38 a.m., officers received a report of a stabbing in the 3600 block of Brothers Place Southeast. When they got to the scene, they found a man suffering from a stab wound. He was conscious when he was transported to the hospital. His injuries are said to be minor. No lookout information is available at this time.

The final incident in the spree of stabbings and shootings happened around 1:50 a.m. when police responded to the 5000 block of D Street Southeast. Police found a man outside with at least one gunshot wound. He was conscious when he was taken to the hospital. Police are looking for a suspect described as a black male, between 15 to 18 years old. He was wearing a black sweat shirt with a hood. Police said he was armed with a black and white handgun.
