Cigarette possibly to blame in College Park house fire

A family of four has been displaced after a house fire in College Park Monday morning, Prince George's County Fire and EMS said.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA9) — A family of four has been displaced after a house fire in College Park Monday morning, Prince George's County Fire and EMS said. They're trying to figure out whether a discarded cigarette is to blame.

The fire happened in the 5000 block of Muskogee Street, officials stated. When crews got to the scene, fire was scene coming from the house.

All four family members were able to get out of the house without any injuries.

Fire officials said the blaze started on the back porch of the house. The exact cause remains under investigation.

The fire caused about $200,000 in damages.
