Two men hospitalized after early morning crash in Bowie

Police believe drugs and/or alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

BOWIE, Md., -- Two men were injured following a crash early Saturday morning in Prince George’s County.

Just before 7:30 a.m. Maryland State Police said they responded to southbound Crain Highway south of Route 197 for report of a single-car crash. Officials said a Chevrolet Equinox ran off the road and crashed into a utility pole.

According to a police report, the 30-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. He was later apprehended by officers from the Bowie Police Department.

Police said the 23-year-old passenger suffered a severe leg injury.

Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department also responded to the scene and transported both men by ambulance to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center

No other cars were involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported.

Crain Highway was partially closed following the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
