Body found inside tarp at bus stop in Bethesda, Maryland determined to be homicide

Police say the body has been taken to the medical examiner's officer.

BETHESDA, Md. — Police are investigating after a body was found in a tarp at a Bethesda, Md. bus stop on Monday evening. 

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Francisco De La O De La Cruz of an unconfirmed address.

The body was discovered by a passerby in the 10000 block of Old Georgetown Road around 5:30 p.m. in a grassy area at a bus stop. 

Police said the passerby looked inside of the bag and found the remains. On Tuesday, the manner of death was determined to be homicide. 

Crews responded to the scene and had to be meticulous and cautious to preserve evidence due to the high winds. 

Police say the body has been identified as a male of an unknown age. The do not believe the homicide occurred at the same location where the body was found. 

This homicide is actively being investigated by detectives from the Major Crimes Division.  Detectives urge anyone with information about this incident to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
