HERNDON, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two adults have been displaced by an apartment fire in Herndon early Monday morning, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said.

The fire broke out at the apartment building located in the 2500 block of Farmcrest Dr. around 3:40 a.m., officials said.

When crews got to the scene they found flames coming from the fourth floor balcony of the four-story, garden-style apartment building.

Crews were able to contain the damage to the top floor apartment and a small portion of the attic. They say two apartments have been damaged.

Two residents have been displaced by the fire. All residents had to be evacuated, however have since been allowed back into the building.
