LANHAM, Md. — The driver who crashed head-on into a 22-year-old woman, killing her, has been charged, Maryland State Police said.

Ronet Aching of Upper Marlboro was pronounced dead at the scene after a Ford F150 driven by Miguel Angel Solis Gomez, 26, of Beltsville crashed head-on into her Nissan Xterra.

Gomez was charged with manslaughter by vehicle and criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle.

Early investigations show that just before 6 a.m. Sunday, state troopers responded to I-495 north of Route 450 in Lanham for a serious crash.

When officials arrived to the scene, they located two vehicles involved in the crash.

Police said Gomez was traveling southbound in northbound lanes on I-495 when the driver crashed head-on into Aching's car

Both Aching and the Gomez were the sole occupants of the vehicles at the time of the accident.

Gomez was taken to a nearby hospital and being treated for injuries from the crash. He will be held without bond once he is released from the hospital, according to police.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
