1 man dead, another injured after shooting in SE DC

The shooting occurred one block away from the Fletcher-Johnson Recreation Center and one block from Nalle Elementary School.

WASHINGTON — An intersection in Southeast, D.C. shut down Tuesday afternoon for an investigation after two men were shot.

At 4:25 p.m., a call came into the Metropolitan Police Department regarding a shooting at the intersection of 50th Place and Call Place, SE. One man was found suffering from critical injuries, and the other from non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. 

The man suffering from critical injuries has been pronounced dead on scene. 

Homicide detectives have been called to the scene. 

The shooting occurred one block away from the Fletcher-Johnson Recreation Center and one block from Nalle Elementary School. 

Drivers are asked to avoid the intersection while detectives investigate.

So far, police have not said what led up to the shooting nor identified any possible suspects.
