Police search for suspects after shootout aboard Metrobus

Investigators say someone got off the bus and fired a gun. Someone on the bus fired back through a window.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating an exchange of gunfire aboard a Metrobus in Southeast D.C. just after midnight on Wednesday.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Metro Transit Police responded to a report of a shooting involving a W4 Metrobus at 16th Street and Good Hope Road Southeast.

A preliminary investigation found a person got off the bus and shot into the rear of the bus. That's when another person who was on board the bus at the time fired back through a window.

No one was hurt, according to police. Both people left the scene following the shooting, and police are still searching for them.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about what happened or the people involved are asked to contact the Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121 or text 696873.
