Police: Woman killed while crossing street in NW DC

A woman was crossing the street Saturday afternoon when she was hit by a vehicle near the 1800 block of Columbia Road.

WASHINGTON — D.C. police detectives are investigating the death of a woman who was killed while crossing the street in Northwest D.C. Saturday afternoon.

The department identified the woman as Nina Larson, 24, of New Canaan, Conn.

Police said that Larson had just crossed over Biltmore Street near the 1800 block of Columbia Road around 3:30 p.m. Nov. 13 when she was struck by a passenger car. The woman, who was trapped under the car, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

As of Nov. 12, 36 people have been killed in traffic crashes in D.C., up 6 percent over last year for the same time frame, according to data from the police department.
