WASHINGTON — A judge Monday ordered a man be held without bond on murder charges in the stabbing death of a Virginia woman in a New York Avenue hotel room.

Devastated family members say Christy Bautista was just in town for a concert.
Police outlined a massive amount of evidence in a case that sounds like a terrifying, real-life horror film. Officers all but caught a bloody man, George Sydnor, Jr, red-handed after he allegedly stabbed Christy Bautista 30 times in the chest, the back and the head.
There's no indication Bautista knew Sydnor, who has a long history of arrests and was experiencing homelessness at the time of the attack.
Investigators detailed the evidence against Sydnor in sworn affidavit released just before a court hearing.
Detectives say surveillance video shows Bautista checked into the Ivy City Motel just before 6 p.m. on Friday. About an hour later, police say video shows Sydnor riding a red bicycle into the parking lot and then pushing into her room.
On the video, sounds of a struggle, several thuds, and a woman yelling.
A man out for a smoke called 911 after seeing a woman open the front door of Room 116, visibly in distress, yelling for help.
Police arrived within ten minutes, and banged on the door, a man says everything is fine, but they see blood on his hands through half-open blinds.
Police get a master key and find Bautista lying on the ground, covered in blood from multiple apparent stab wounds. They say Sydnor was in the room, trying to light a cigarette.
Police found a Santoku-style knife, half the blade broken off, the other half inside Sydnor's black jacket.
Police say there was blood on his shoes, his pants, his blue fleece vest, and that he admitted he'd got his hand chopped with his knife.
They say there were long strands of dark hair (Bautista had black hair) in the blood on his hand.
The medical examiner says Bautista had been stabbed dozens of times in the spine, the lungs and the liver, her spine punctured and her ribs broken by the force. She may never have a chance to defend herself. There were no defensive wounds, according to the medical examiner.
Court records show Sydnor, the man accused of murdering Bautista, has an extensive criminal history going back 20 years.
Just this past December he was arrested for armed attempted robbery when police say he tried to take a woman's car.
At first, he was held without bond because a judge said he was a "significant danger to the community," but in early January different judge released him and a week later he failed to show up for court.
His next encounter with police appears to have been when officers arrested him at the Ivy City Motel.
Bautista’s family is asking for privacy as they’ve been left reeling from this devastating loss.
A GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs has been organized Ashley Bautista.
She said "Christy made an impact on everyone’s lives that she encountered. She was a shining light that lifted up everyone’s spirits around her."
George Sydnor, Jr., 43, of no fixed address, was charged with First-Degree Murder. There is no word on a motive.
