WASHINGTON-- A mother's two young sons were shot within three months of each other.
One was 12, the other 13.
The first shooting happened on February 14 near 4500 Ponds Street in Northeast D.C. at around 7 p.m., according to a D.C. police report.
The report says he was shot in the upper torso.
Her second son was shot on May 4 about 500 feet away from the prior shooting.
This time, the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m., according to a D.C. police report.
According to his mother, the boy just had a procedure done Wednesday to help clear the fluid from his lungs and is still in the hospital recovering.
To show support, the community helped organize a peace walk set for Friday, at 6 p.m.
They're asking for a ceasefire for seven days.
