Police: Germantown man arrested for soliciting sex from 14-year-old girl

Miguel Angel De Jesus Navarro, 61, allegedly offered the victim money for sex and asked her for inappropriate photos for months.

GERMANTOWN, Md. — Montgomery County Police have arrested a Germantown man for allegedly soliciting sex from a 14-year-old girl, repeatedly.

Miguel Angel De Jesus Navarro, 61, was arrested on Dec. 30 in Germantown and charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, attempted sex trafficking of a minor, and the solicitation of a minor for child pornography. He is being held without bond.

Police said they first learned of the possible solicitation in November. Their investigation found that in March or April of 2019, the 14-year-old girl and her mother were leaving a Salvation Army at 18705 N Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg when Navarro allegedly approached them in a car and offered them a ride home. The mother accepted the offer, and before dropping the women off, Navarro asked the girl how old she was. Police said she told him she was 14, and Navarro got her phone number before she got out of the car.

Later that night, police said Navarro called the girl and offered her money for sex. The girl allegedly told him she was 14 and asked him to leave her alone. But police said Navarro continued to text the victim through November with repeated requests for inappropriate photos and sex.

This is an ongoing investigation and police are asking that anyone with information on the incident, or anyone who believes that she/he was victimized by Navarro, call the department at 240-773-5400.
