Fire rips through auto shop in Beltsville

The fire broke out at the auto shop located in the 11200 block of Baltimore Avenue early Tuesday around 2:30 a.m.

BELTSVILLE, Md. — Only charred metal remains of several vehicles serviced at a Beltsville auto shop that caught on fire overnight.

The fire broke out at the auto shop located in the 11200 block of Baltimore Avenue early Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. 

When fire crews got to the scene they found heavy fire conditions throughout the structure, officials said. 

The fire has been brought under control, but the damage is done.  Officials have estimated the loss at $50,000. Around a dozen vehicles were also damaged. 

It is not clear at this time what caused the fire and an investigation is underway. 

No injuries were reported in the fire.
