There are more than 500 job openings across the region. More than 50 agencies will be at the third annual career fair on May 10.

If your dream is to protect or serve the community, then don't miss the chance to attend an upcoming law enforcement career fair.

The Prince George's County Division of the Maryland National Capital Park Police is hosting its third annual Regional Law Enforcement Career Fair at the Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland on May 10.

More than 50 agencies from D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and as far as New York will be at the career fair. There's at least 500 job openings that agencies on the local, county and federal level are looking to fill.

"One of the big things for us is that we want to hire from within our community," Lt. Vereen Barton, who works in the Office of Accountability, Oversight and Recruiting, said. "We want our departments to reflect what our community looks like."

"There are career opportunities for civilians like dispatcher positions, records administrative positions, we even have the state's attorney's office coming out to be a part of this career fair," Stanley Johnson, the Chief the Prince George's County Division for M-NCPP, said.

When it comes to experience, Johnson said a high school diploma is required at minimum, or a GED for most agencies. Others may require a few college credits. It all depends, which is why Johnson encourages people to come out and learn about the opportunities and requirements in person.

"If you have the desire in your heart to serve, come out to see what we have to offer," Lt. Lakeisha Robinson said. "This is your community, be a part of it in a positive way."

Johnson said a lot of the vacancies come from those who retired. So, they're eager to fill positions with people who are passionate about law enforcement.

If you'd like to attend the career fair, the Sports and Learning Complex is located at 8001 Sheriff Road, Landover, Maryland 20785.

Attendees are asked to register for the free event, which can be done here

The career fair will run from 1-5 p.m.
