Creative Grounds DC
First up is Creative Grounds DC, which recently opened at 1822 N. Capitol St. NW in Bloomingdale. With five stars out of seven reviews on Yelp, it is off to a positive start.
The new spot offers art classes and workshops for adults and kids. Its menu features locally roasted coffee, plus herbal teas, juices and pastries.
And over at 1130 Connecticut Ave. NW, Suite 100, you'll find the latest bakery, cafe and brunch spot: La Madeleine has added a new downtown location.
The French bakery and cafe offers all-day breakfast, sandwiches, soups, salads and entrees that include roasted salmon with dill, pasta with pesto and a salmon, kale and butternut squash bowl.
Finally, a Columbia Heights newcomer, Ledo Pizza, is located at 1400 Irving St. NW.
In addition to a variety of pizzas with homemade sauce and dough, the menu features bacon and cheese fries, panko shrimp, chicken wings, cheesesteak subs and chicken and broccoli fettuccine Alfredo.
