A new Italian spot, offering seafood and more, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. Called Maialino Mare, the new addition is located at 221 Tingey St. SE in Navy Yard.

Maialino Mare features dishes inspired by Rome. Fettuccine with shrimp, braised suckling pig, bucatini with spicy tomato sauce and guanciale, and salt-baked sea bass are among the menu options. Italian wines are also served.

With a 4.5 rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, the business has made a promising start.

Yelper Meili L., who reviewed the new restaurant on Jan. 5, noted, “For appetizer, we started off with the polpo — octopus. The octopus was well flavored with a hint of the lemon.'

And Em E. wrote, 'We had the calamari as our appetizer, cacio e pepe and bolognese as our pastas, swordfish with zucca as our main course, and torta della nonna for dessert. Everything was tasty. The swordfish and zucca are not to be missed.'

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Maialino Mare is open from 5–10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5-10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
