This nurse has been working at Inova hospital for half a century and has no plans to retire | Get Uplifted

Janet Woods has spent 50 years caring for Inova's tiniest patients in the NICU.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A nurse in Virginia recently hit a major milestone in her career

Janet Woods has spent the last 50 years on the job as a pediatric nurse at Inova Fairfax, and Janet -- who is 71 years young -- has no plans to retire.

So her coworkers decided 50 years was a good enough reason to celebrate the dedicated nurse.

Woods, who works in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) arrived at the hospital on Tuesday thinking it would be just another day, but it was far from business as usual.

Hundreds of her colleagues lined the hospital halls with 50 flowers, one for each year, for a women they call a superhero.

Nurse Janet estimates she's helped bring thousands of babies into the world, and says not even the pandemic would make her consider retiring.
