WASHINGTON — Are you ready to party this weekend? Well if you are, there are a few festivals lined up for this weekend along with other family-friendly events.

Friday, September 20 

Washington Monument reopens

When: 9 a.m.- 10 p.m.

Where: The National Mall

Guess who is open for business again? After being closed for 3 years, the Washington Monument will be open for the public to visit inside. So whether you have just moved to the area or are a lifelong Washingtonian who has never visited, it would be the perfect activity this Friday.

Open Studio Friday

When: 1-5 p.m.

Where: Education Center at the National Portrait Gallery

Looking to channel your inner Picasso? Well, the National Portrait Gallery hosts an Open Studio each Friday. This Friday, learn about the art technique ink blotting. 

Saturday, Sept. 21 

H Street Festival

Where: H Street Corridor 

Come to one of the biggest parties this fall! For the past 12 years, the H Street Festival continued to grow to the 11 block festival it is today. Expect food, music and tons of fun!

Where: National Zoo

Celebrate the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month with the National Zoo at "ZooFiesta: Un día de diversión animal para toda la familia"! Learn about Latin America through music, dance performances and animal demonstrations.

FiestaDC Parade

When: 1-5 p.m.

Where: Along Constitution Avenue NW, from 7th St NW to 12th ST NW, then north on 12th ST NW to Pennsylvania Ave, then West along Pennsylvania Ave NW 

Continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the 8th annual FiestaDC parade. Take a tour of Latin America as you view the Parade of Nations travel throughout downtown DC. See local organizations and performers embrace their culture.

Museum Day

Where: Various museum locations 

Washingtonians are quite spoiled as almost every museum in the area is free. However, there are a few that require a payment. Well, if you avoid some of those museums, this Saturday is your chance to finally go-- for free! In honor of Museum Day, many locations will be allowed free admission. Just remember you still have to download a ticket prior from the Smithsonian website.

National Dance Day

Where: REACH outdoor grounds

Celebrate National Dance Day with the Kennedy Center. Spend an hour experiencing an interactive lecture created by journalist Lisa Traiger. Dance companies that will perform include The Washington Ballet, Knock on Wood Tap Studio, Jones Haywood Dance School and more.  

Sunday, September 22 

FiestaDC Festival

When: 11 a.m.- 7 p.m.

Where: Along Pennsylvania Ave NW, from 3rd St to 7th ST NW 

The party never stops! The FiestaDC Festival will continue to party into the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month in the heart of DC with live performances, food and more. Attendees can continue to educate themselves on Latin American history while having fun. 

Honey Harvest Festival

Where: Brookside Nature Garden (Wheaton, MD) 

Celebrate one of the best insects on this planet, bees with Brookside Nature Garden this Sunday. Learn about the process of harvesting honey along with other fun activities and crafts. Also, walk away with a jar (or two) of fresh honey.
