Stand with the Indigenous people of this nation as they bring awareness to the injustices facing all Indigenous people around the world. The day will start with an 8:00 a.m. gathering and prayer followed by the march and then a fundraising concert from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday, Jan. 19
Where: Arlington National Cemetery – 1 Memorial Ave. Arlington, VA
When: 8:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Volunteer with your family and friends to help retrieve the 265,000 wreaths that were placed at the Arlington National Cemetery in December. This event is a great way to show your respect for our American heroes and be a part of this time honored tradition.
Where: Wharf DC – 690 Water St. SW
When: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Fire twirlers and ice sculptors are this events main attractions accompanied by live music and s’mores. While you enjoy the festivities, the outdoor space will have a bar equipped with wine, beer and whiskey.

Get your activism on with the third annual Women’s March. No matter your political beliefs, the march is a chance for women from differing backgrounds to fight for one common goal; equality.

Where: National Museum of Women in the Arts – 1250 New York Ave. NW
When: From now till February 10th, 2019
While the partial government shutdown has closed most of the museums in DC, privately owned museums, like this one, are still open! The NMWA is offering free admission from January 19-21 making it the perfect time to visit and celebrate women in the arts.
Where: 2622 Georgia Ave. NW
When: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily till Feb. 18
Come take a look at an extensively large collection of Hop-Hop artifacts and memorabilia. Although the launch party on the 18th will cost you, the museum is free and open to the public starting this Saturday.
Monday, Jan. 21 Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Where: Folger Theater – 201 East Capital St. SE
When: 10:00 a.m.
Watch and listen as award winning poet Marilyn Nelson performs a combination of poetry and famed speeches from Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi and more. The theater is also encouraging people to bring canned and box food donations to the event.

When: 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
If you’re looking for a way to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy on your day off, join the peace walk. The walk symbolizes all the work that he put forth for racial equality in this country and the torch that must be carried to see his work through.
Where: Kennedy Center – 2700 F St. NW
When: 6:00 p.m.
The Kennedy Center's free daily performance series will feature Tony, Emmy and Grammy award winning Audra McDonald along with Tony winning artist Brian Stokes for one night only. Free general admission tickets will be given on a first come first serve basis beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Hall of Nations.
