ROCKVILLE, Md. — Whether it's hot or cold outside, one of my favorite things to do with family is grab some delicious Italian ice. My local spot is Carmen's Italian Ice in Rockville, Md.
Carmen's has a myriad of Italian Ice and frozen custard flavors, just like what you would find at the Jersey Shore.
Owner, and New Jersey native, Jason Mandler has been in the Italian ice business for 20 years. He was inspired by childhood trips to local shops in New Jersey and Long Island.
One thing you have to try when you stop by an Italian Ice place? A gelati.
Jason tells me his intention was to create a neighborly feel, which is one of the things that attracted me and my family to check it out.
"You know, it's a neighborhood place. That's what we created. That's what I wanted. That's what we wanted to create, we know a lot of people either on their first name basis or what they order," he said.
