Best of 'Big Bang Theory': Rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock

This game became a quintessential 'Big Bang Theory' moment in Season 2

WASHINGTON -- What's the best way of solving a debate in your household?

In Season 2 of the Big Bang Theory, Raj suggests a game of rock, paper, scissors, and Sheldon quickly knocks him down.

Sheldon's reason? "...Anecdotal evidence suggests that in the game of rock-paper-scissors, players familiar with each other will tie 75 to 80% of the time due to the limited number of outcomes"

So he presents the game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock...

The rules:

"Scissors decapitate Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, rock crushes scissors."

It becomes an ongoing way to break a tie or a debate in the Big Bang Theory.

'Rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock' is so popular among Big Bang fans, that t-shirts and other fan gear with the rules of the game are now available on Amazon and other retailers.

The CBS hit comedy will be coming to an end this month after 12 seasons. The final episode will debut on Thursday, May 16th at 8 P.M. Eastern time.
