(WUSA9) -- Elle Cosimano has just written her first novel. It's a thriller set in D.C. called "Nearly Gone."

In the book, when a serial killer starts systematically eliminating high school students, Nearly Boswell realizes she is the only person who can unravel the clues being left in the Classifieds section—and if she doesn't solve them soon, she'll be next.

Cosimano, who is the daughter of a a maximum security prison warden in D.C., told us about her inspiration for the book: a colleague's obsession over the personal ads every day on her lunch break.
