Sharla comes from WNEP-TV in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA, where she was the evening news anchor, anchoring weekday newscasts at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Prior to anchoring news, Sharla was a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WNEP.

Sharla was born and raised in Austin, TX, and is still a Southerner at heart. You’ll catch her saying “Y’all” from time to time! Her passion for sports reporting began in Athens, Georgia, while studying Broadcasting and International Affairs at the University of Georgia. A graduate of UGA, Sharla bleeds red and black, and roots for her “Dawgs” every chance she gets!

Sharla interned and later worked as an associate sports producer at FOX5 in Atlanta, GA. From there she took her sports reporting skills to West Texas, where she reported and anchored at KTXS-TV, covering high school football on Friday nights, and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays.

While in Pennsylvania, Sharla also worked for NBC Sports Philadelphia, anchoring “Sportsnite” weekdays at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. On weekends, Sharla hosted “PA Harness Week”, a show highlighting harness racing across the Northeast, also airing on NBC Sports Philly.

Sharla has also used her broadcasting skills to dive deeper into the television industry. She has acted as an anchor and reporter in hit network shows such as, “Designated Survivor”, “Quantico”, “Mr. Robot” and HBO’s “Succession.”

Sharla is excited to now be covering sports in our nation’s capital!
