Pete Muntean is back on home turf. A native of Annapolis and a graduate of the University of Maryland, he joined WUSA 9‘s reporter corps in April 2016 after six years in Pennsylvania.
There, he was a political watchdog for WGAL in Harrisburg, giving a voice to voters as the market’s only dedicated State Capitol reporter. He earned acclaim for his “Ad Watch” reports, received an Emmy nomination for exposing government waste, and extensively covered the Penn State University scandal and the child sex abuse trial of Jerry Sandusky.
Pete is a graduate of the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism where his coverage of state issues earned him honors from the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Emmy chapter and the Chesapeake AP Broadcasters Association. He also worked behind the scenes for CBS News and CNN.
When he's not on the air, Pete is usually in the air. Taught by his late mother Nancy Lynn, he's a third-generation pilot and regularly competes in aerobatic flying competitions.
