Gio Insignares is a morning anchor and reporter at WUSA9 in Washington, D.C., as part of the Get Up DC ensemble from 4:25 a.m.-6 a.m. Additionally, Gio reports his own stories.

Before landing in D.C., Gio was essentially a wandering traveler – having been born and raised in Miami, Florida, moving to Maryland, moving again to Alabama, then back up to Maryland, and finally out to Oregon.

Gio is a University of Maryland, College Park, grad (Go Terps!), having covered nothing but sports while in school. His first jobs in television were as a sports production intern at WRC and WJLA in D.C., then WTVJ in Miami. However, he eventually switched to news, leading him out to Southern Oregon where he was a morning anchor, reporter, and producer at KDRV in Medford.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find Gio at the gym or talking and watching sports, movies, and digesting every bit of news and culture available. There’s almost nothing he’s not willing to share his thoughts on.

He is always up and ready to hear from you. Shoot an email to or find him on Twitter @Gio_Insignares, Facebook @GioInsignaresWUSA9, and Instagram @Gio_Insignares
